Haier has put up for sale the first plant it built in the EU.

According to reports from the Romanian news website "Romania-insider," Haier is selling its refrigerator manufacturing plant in Romania and has entrusted the real estate consulting firm Colliers International to handle the transaction.

According to reports, Haier recently conducted a strategic review of the plant and decided to cease its operations. Colliers International stated that it will manage the sale process, including identifying potential buyers in the manufacturing sector, providing transaction management support, and negotiating contract terms. It is understood that the plant is located within an industrial park, covering a total area of 130,000 square meters with a built-up area of 58,000 square meters.

Reports indicate that the factory commenced operations in 2021 as Haier's first manufacturing plant built in the EU, with an investment of 70 million euros. Haier announced in early 2025 that it would close the facility. In a statement, the company explained that the decision was made in response to industry challenges, including market stagnation in Europe, significant double-digit declines in some key markets, rising costs of imported goods, and competitive pressures.
