On November 27, it was reported that Shan Lianyu, General Manager of Xiaomi Group's Major Home Appliances Division, posted on Weibo, announcing the official launch of the R&D building at the Xiaomi Smart Home Appliance Factory.
Shan Lianyu stated, "This is a critical step in achieving a full closed-loop process for smart manufacturing in the major home appliance sector, as well as another new starting point for our 'Human x Car x Home Ecosystem' strategy. Over 300 R&D colleagues will begin working here today, ensuring that technology, manufacturing, and validation are truly synchronized—working under the same roof and at the same pace. Many of the 'hard capabilities' that will be delivered to users in the future will be developed here."
It is reported that at the end of October this year, the first phase of Xiaomi's Smart Home Appliance Factory was officially completed and put into operation in Wuhan. This marks Xiaomi's third large-scale manufacturing base, following its automotive super factory and smartphone smart factory, and represents another milestone in the company's "Human x Car x Home Ecosystem" strategy within the field of smart manufacturing.
The factory has a total investment of over 25 billion yuan and primarily focuses on air conditioning products, covering the assembly and production of both household and central air conditioning systems. Its peak annual production capacity is expected to reach 7 million units. In the future, the factory will also expand to cover a full range of smart home appliances, including refrigerators and washing machines. Additionally, the current Xiaomi Wuhan factory is capable of producing one air conditioning unit (indoor unit) every 6.5 seconds, a rate that is among the fastest globally, showcasing its highly automated and intelligent capabilities.
